FENG SHUI

DENA POLMANTEER

Feng Shui is an ancient art of making everything sacred by balancing,

harmonizing & enhancing the flow of natural energies in your home and at

work. It is the principle of humanity in balance with its surroundings.

I have agreed to do a series of articles about Feng Shui in hopes of

encouraging people to learn how to empower their lives. Though Feng Shui is

becoming popular it can be very difficult for an individual to understand or

know how to use it within their daily life. This is due primarily because

each book written comes from such a different discipline of Feng Shui.

There are five schools of Feng Shui, Red Hat, Yellow Hat, White Hat, Mixed

Hat and Black Hat. The first four listed here are considered the more

orthodox approach to this discipline. Orthodox from this perspective means,

simplistically, that these first four schools use a compass to determine

literal direction on making recommendations and secondly they do not use

intention to empower the remedies they recommend.

The Black Hat sect, taught by Master Lin Yun, is unorthodox in it's approach,

stating that "Nothing is absolute, or stationary, everything in our world and

universe is constantly moving and uses symbolic north, south, east and west.

Black Hat Feng Shui is a blending of the traditional methods while applying

these methods to our western life style." A perfect alliance of both east and west.

Everything is Feng Shui, no matter what sect is used, begins and ends with the

Ba-Gua. The Ba-Gua is an octagon shaped map that divides a space into areas.

Each area represents a different facet of life. The beginner can, after the

first class, go home and easily understand the basics of how Feng Shui works.

When the basics of Feng Shui are understood then there are cures (remedies)

that can be put in place to empower the space, hence curing the problem.

There are nine areas of the Ba-Gua.

1. Career or Life Path

2. Helpful People, Travel or Head Male

3. Children or Creativity

4. Marriage, Partnership or Head Female

5. Fame, Reputation or Illumination

6. Wealth, Abundance or Fortunate Blessings

7. Family, Ancestors or Genetic Health

8. Knowledge, Contemplation or Wisdom

9. Tai Chi, Center or Unity

The master teacher of Black Hat Feng Shui, professor Lin Yun said, "Most

people are only interested in the cures of Feng Shui, but if you absorb the

theory and principles behind the cures you can truly help yourself."

Before we explore the different areas of the Ba-Gua, like with every great

adventure there is a first step. In Feng Shui the first step is cleaning out

the Clutter in your life. Clutter is an energy drain. Clutter is anything you are keeping

that stagnates your energy, because it serves no purpose in your life. Never

underestimate the effects of Clutter!!! Clutter causes lack of energy, confusion,

indecision, depression, irritations, and arguments, just to name a few. A person unconsciously

keeps clutter in order to suppress his or her own aliveness. They may want to

change and improve their lives, but their subconscious minds are afraid to

journey into the unknown. Releasing clutter allows you to open yourself up to new

opportunities. Clearing Clutter out of your life is the first and most important step

you can take in learning how to empower your life with Feng Shui.

A few things to know about Clutter:

Keeping things just in case creates lack in your subconscious.

Clutter behind doors blocks opportunities from coming into your life.

Clutter in passageways puts obstacles in your path in life.

Clutter on the floor causes depression and can lead to suicidal tendencies.

Clutter on the top of closets or over-head impedes the ability to think clearly.

Keeping books you no longer read stops the creative flow of new ideas.

Until the next time light and love to you all.
